“Happy Hookers” win at Pindari

A great start to the 2016 Australian Yellowbelly Championships

What a weekend! Great conditions greeted the Anglers and the start line was a buzz as the 54 Teams kicked off the 2016 Series. It was fantastic to see so many new teams and juniors getting amongst it.

There was a large release of water that commenced 2 weeks prior and continued right up to the start of the event. This release definitely impacted the fishing but Anglers adapted well and delivered a total of 243 Yellowbelly with an average length of 395mm to the marshals over the weekend.

The Shimano Shoot Out

Fishing was pretty tough due to a lot of water being let out of the dam so to spice things up Saturday evening and have a bit of fun the Anglers fished from 6pm -7pm for their biggest Yellowbelly. John Morley from Team Water Rats took it out with a 545mm Yellowbelly.
