2022 DAIWA Copeton Cod Classic Roundup
RAIN, RAIN, Go-Away
The prefish reports suggested the water was in good condition for fishing despite the weather conditions. As to be expected there was “dirty water” up in the far reaches of the Gwydir but the rest of the dam was reasonably clear.
The wet weather made camping an additional challenge so a big thanks to Reflections for opening up the Bunkhouse to help those seeking shelter & a good night’s sleep.
The weather gods served up the toughest fishing conditions you could ever imagine for the this years DAIWA Cod Classic. The amount of water entering into the dam was amazing. Then at the other end the spillway was releasing water as quick as it was coming in causing the fish to bury themselves in the mud and definitely not thinking about eating.
CONGRATULATIONS to Team “Sinkin Tinnies” – Luke Burton, Joe Davidson & Fletcher Richardson who persevered to secure the win at the Daiwa Australia Copeton Cod Classic. Well done guys for toughing it out and getting the fish to eat. You definitely deserved your win.
Not forgetting the runners up who also fished vey well in extraordinary conditions.
2nd place Team “Off The Top” – Michael Purvis and Danial Lennon.
3rd place Team “Donut” – Luke Cornwell and Josh McFadden.
As already mentioned the weather last week was nothing short of atrocious – there were numerous road closures due to flooding across NSW and the adjoining states.
John was bogged in at Narrabri on the Friday morning. But after a little pep talk from fellow anglers and an extra-long trip adding an additional few hundred km’s to his trip he got there. John wasn’t the only team that made the extra effort though with lots going out of their way to compete.
Thanks, so much guys we really did appreciate the extra effort you all made to get there.
Hope you enjoyed yourself. John certainly did as the winner of the Lucky Door Prize.
