Rules and Regulations for all AYC Fishing Tournaments

Australian Yellowbelly Championships 2023 Rules and Regulations

General Rules

  • Teams Event.
  • Teams can have up to 3 members.
  • Anglers must fish within the current Fisheries & Waterways guidelines of the state in which the event is being held and must be in possession of the necessary permits or licenses.
  • Catch and release events.
  • Each event will consist of 3 sessions held over 2-days.
  • 1-week “pre-fish” ban.
  • Official pre-fish day is the Friday prior to the event.
  • All boats must be equipped with the required safety gear.
  • All anglers must be wearing safety vests and have driver lanyard attached while the vessel is on the plane or travelling at speed. Failure to do so will mean disqualification for that session. Vests are not required to be worn while fishing unless in Alpine lakes and your vessel is under 4.8m.
  • AYC reserves the right to cancel or postpone an event due to inclement weather conditions. If this is the case and that round can’t continue it will be re-scheduled. Safety is our number 1 priority.
  • Anglers may fish any line class.
  • Lure casting only is permitted. No bait.
  • Trolling is NOT permitted.
  • Fishing is NOT permitted within any defined non-boating or non-fishing areas.
  • Fish must be caught during the designated times and kept alive in a functioning live-well or cooler with an aerator attached. Important to keep changing that water.
  • No more than 4 Golden Perch are allowed to be kept at any one time in live-well. Chase up a marshal so fish can be measured and released asap.
  • All fish are to be measured by an AYC staff member and will be recorded on the supplied catch sheets. Catch sheets will be handed out at the briefing or the morning prior to start.
  • 4 longest Golden Perch will determine a team’s result for the session.
  • Longest 12 fish over the 3 sessions will determine a team’s overall placing and Grand Final point allocation.
  • Golden Perch will be measured from nose to tip.
  • All teams must be back by designated session finish times. Session times will be notified at the briefing.
  • Penalties for teams that are back late – for each minute that a team is late there will be a 100mm deduction.
  • Any complaints regarding a breach of the rules must be addressed to the on-site Tournament Director during the event.
  • Penalties for rule and conduct violations may include the following:
    1. Disqualification of catch for the session.
    2. Disqualification from the tournament.
    3. Disqualification from future AYC events.
  • Any concerns regarding clarification of rules can be discussed with AYC officials BEFORE the start of the tournament.
  • The Tournament Director’s decision is final regarding all rule decisions.

Event Payouts – 70% Payback

  • 70% of net entry fees (entry fee less GST) will be paid back in prizes.
  • Cash prizes for each of the 3 sessions.
  • Payouts to top 5 teams in each session.
  • $500 Wilson Fishing – “Big Yella” prize.
  • $3,000 Sponsor Product Dollars “Lucky Draw” prize just for entering the event.

Grand Final Qualification

Not everyone fishes these events to qualify for the Grand Final some are just happy to compete in 1 or 2 events simply for the fun of fishing.

But if you’re a competitive lad or lady here is what you need to know.

  • The 2023 Windamere Grand Final will consist of the top 20 teams.
  • Grand Final qualification will be decided by your team’s cumulative point score over the 3 qualifying events throughout the year.
  • $10,000 total prize money is up for grabs for the top 3 teams.
  • Grand Final will consist of 4 sessions held over 3 days.
  • All teams will compete Friday and Saturday with top 6 teams after the Saturday session to advance to the Sunday shootout.

How points are calculated

After each event teams will be awarded a point score.
This is decided by a team’s overall placing for that event.

1st  place = 100 points,
2nd place = 99 points,
3rd  place = 98 points
       and so on down the line.

There are 3 qualifying events in the series:

  1. Keepit
  2. Windamere
  3. Burrendong

2022 COD CLASSICS Rules & Regulations

General Rules 

  • Anglers must fish within the current Freshwater Fisheries guidelines of the state in which the event is being held and must be in possession of the necessary permits or licenses.
  • Catch, photo and release. 2-day events.
  • Pre Fish Ban – Starts Monday 10th October. Finishes Midnight Thursday 20th October
  • Friday 21st October is the official pre-fish day.
  • Teams can have up to 3 team members. 
  • Anglers must not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol during fishing times.
  • All boats must be equipped with the required safety gear and motor lanyards
  • All anglers must be wearing safety vests and driver lanyard attached while the vessel is on the plane or travelling at speed. Failure to do so will mean disqualification. Vests are not required to be worn while fishing unless in Alpine lakes and your vessel is under 4.8m
  • AYC reserves the right to cancel or postpone an event due to inclement weather conditions. If this is the case and that event can’t continue it will be re-scheduled. Safety is our number 1 priority.

  • Lure and fly casting. Trolling IS permitted. 
  • Bait is NOT permitted. 
  • Only one rod per angler is allowed to be used at any one time. 
  • Fishing is NOT permitted within any defined non-boating or non-fishing areas.
  • Fish must be caught during the designated times.
  • All fish are to be measured on supplied brag mat, a photo taken with token and recorded on your team’s catch sheet. Release quickly.
  • Catch sheets and mats will be handed out at the Friday briefing prior to the start.
  • Your team’s 2 longest Cod will determine your placing.  Your team’s 2 longest Cod will determine your placing.  Although, if a team with their best 2 fish combined length doesn’t better a team with one fish the team with 1 fish wins the event. So say for eg that if a team catches 2 fish that go 1.1m in total length and another team catches 1 fish that is 1.2m in total length the team with the longest overall length wins ie: team number 2 wins with the 1 fish. 
  • Top 3 teams are eligible for the prize money – 1st $2,500  2nd $1,500.00  3rd $1,000.00
  • Wilson Fishing – Venom Rod / ATC reel combo ( Biggest Cod )
  • Fishing can commence after the Friday briefing.
  • All teams must be back by 8.30 am Sunday morning and the catch sheet and tokens returned.
  • Any complaints regarding a breach of the rules must be addressed to the on-site Tournament Director during the event. Penalties for rule and conduct violations may include the following:
  • Disqualification from the tournament
  • Disqualification from future AYC events.
  • Any concerns regarding clarification of rules can be discussed with AYC officials BEFORE the start of the tournament
  • The Tournament Director’s decision is final regarding

Schedule

  1. Friday BBQ – 6.30 pm
  2. Team Check-In.
  3. Catch sheets, tokens/brag mats collected.
  4. Sunday Raffle Draw ticket sales.
  5. Briefing – 7.30 pm
  6. Fishing can commence after the briefing.
  7. Fishing stops – Sunday
All teams must have their catch sheets & tokens returned by 8.30 am Sunday morning.

These Terms and Conditions are included in the Registration Forms
and you will need to tick that you agree with them at the time of submitting the form
.

 

I agree to the conditions and this acceptance may and will be pleaded as a bar to action in any forum, tribunal or court. I also agree to allow the organizers to use my name, images and results to promote the tournaments and their Sponsors.

In summary, I hereby agree to abide by the rules of the competition, be responsible for my own actions and contract not to take legal action against the organizers for any reason and to indemnify the organizers against such action. I agree to enter entirely at my own risk.

Acceptance of conditions and indemnification: (please note: this is a contract that limits your right to take legal action!) I, we being the person whose names and addresses appear on this form, have fully read and understand the conditions of entry.

I agree and do abide by these conditions and fully accept them as a part of my entry. I agree not to take or be a party to any action or allow any party to act through me or on my behalf, against the organizers of the event on any matter to the conduct of the related event or occurrences during the event. I agree to indemnify the organizers of the event against any cost, expenses, damages or awards made against them in relation to any action taken by my or on my behalf or in relation to any claim I may make.

If a team chooses to withdraw from an event and provides AYC Fishing Tournaments with more than 5 full days’ notice, their registration fee will be held in CREDIT for a future event.

Short notice withdrawals, i.e. 5 days or less prior to the event,  will not qualify for a refund or credit and the team will forfeit their registration fee.
